Appeals Service
There are two ways that an appeal can be submitted:¨ Learners or their representatives can submit an appeal via the Learner Direct Appeals Service. This is accessed via SQA’s website.¨ Schools can submit an appeal via the Appeals service on behalf of their learners.
What is a Priority Appeal
If you have a conditional place at university or college, or for training or employment that depends on your grade, you can request a priority appeal. It is called ‘priority’ because it means that your appeal will be processed faster.
Questions regarding your results
If you have any questions regarding your results and potential impact on your current timetable and subject choices these can be discussed with Mr Taylor on your return to school on Tuesday 19th August.
However, you will see from the key dates above that the deadline for Priority Appeals is Tuesday 12th August which is when we are still on holiday. So, if you have any questions about submitting a priority appeal then please e-mail Mr Taylor directly: DTaylor@pkc.gov.uk
Moreover, if you have any other questions that you feel are urgent then again you can contact Mr Taylor on the e-mail given previously. Mr Taylor will access his e-mails on the 5th and 6th August to check for and respond to any SQA results related queries.
Appeals
If you appeal your grade, a senior marker will carry out a marking review of your SQA-marked assessments. The senior marker will review your responses to all externally marked questions and assignments. They check that the marks awarded by the marker are in line with the marking standards agreed at the markers briefing and the marking instructions. In addition, they also check that:
- all parts of your SQA-assessments have been marked
- the marks given for each answer have been totalled correctly
- the correct result has been entered on our system
Please note that after being reviewed, your result could stay the same, go up or go down.
