Course Summary

The PDA in Scottish Football Association: Refereeing at SCQF level 7 is designed to equip individuals with knowledge and understanding of Scottish Football Association (SFA) refereeing, concentrating on knowledge and understanding of the Laws of the Game (LOTG) of football. It also includes learning about formal controls, misconduct, match reports and fitness standards for referees. This knowledge is drawn together by refereeing a football match.

The Course content covers the main practical activities involved in carrying out a supportive role in sport and recreation environments: sourcing information about career pathways, identifying and reviewing skills and experiences; assisting with planning, setting up and delivering activity sessions; dealing effectively and courteously with clients; assisting with emergency procedures; assisting with setting up, dismantling and checking equipment and resources; helping to plan and review a training programme; and establishing good practice in identifying and reviewing goals.  Course Summary

This National Progression Award (NPA) is designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding they’ll need for progression to further academic and professional qualifications in physical activity and health which, in turn, will allow them to progress towards work as industry standard exercise practitioners.

 

This NPA will provide learners with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the physiological and psychological responses to cardiovascular, group exercise and resistance training. Learners will also experience participation in a range of cardiovascular, group exercise and resistance training approaches, and in planning and leading physical activity sessions in a realistic, supported environment.

At SCQF level 6, the NPA introduces learners to the role of a coach within a supervised environment. By leading the planning, delivery and review of coaching sessions, learners will experience the preparation of the coaching environment, and the needs and expectations of participants while meeting required safety standards.
